Tower BBQ
Last Sunday, our tower held a summer BBQ. Our Annual meeting had us discussing other uses for the social fund. We have an annual meal, we meet occasionally for striking competitions, but we don’t get many opportunities for everyone from both Tuesday’s and Thursday’s practice to see each other.
After much deliberation over a suitable date and time, it was decided that Sunday the 14th of August was a good time for both tower members and the church hall. We also picked a day where we would be able to ring afterwards for evensong.
The weather was beautifully sunny. We had fun playing both baseball and catch in the park, and had a large Jenga set knocked down several times.
We made full use of Lyndsey’s previous job as a chef to cook us some delicious chicken, sausages, and burgers. Jan helped out with salad, and many cakes, jellies, and trifles were also enjoyed. Tables and Chairs were bought outside so we could sit in the sun, we only went inside to fetch teas and coffees!
Overall, the Barbeque was a great success, which we are considering turning into a yearly event. Perhaps next time we’ll book the hall in late July/early September so that less people are away on holiday.
We have some pictures in our Gallery, but also have a look at our Facebook page!
