New Rope Warmer
For a few years now, the tower AGM has mentioned a new rope warmer that fails to materialise. The winds blowing around the tower occasionally cause the rain to blow horizontally into the bell chamber through the louvers. The water gets onto the ropes and makes the ropes rather stiff and unpleasant to ring on.
Mark has therefore been keen in his new role as steeple keeper to make the tower the rope warmer in the hope of improving conditions. Well aware that it may not be seasonable, he said that he would rather not leave it until the last minute or potentially leave it until another AGM had come and gone before starting the project.
As you can see, the design is very similar to Philip Kinsman's design here. The only real difference is that the pipe between wire mesh and the bulb can be puled apart so that the bulb can easily be replaced.
Thanks Mark for your amazing initiative. We can't wait for the opportunity to use it!
